The MLYS will be holding auditions during the first week of August in 2008. Auditions are required of every musician,
even those returning from the previous year and for Fall 2008, the MLYS is inviting new musicians to audition.
Auditions are scheduled as follows:
- Monday, August 4, 2008 - Sonora High School, 6pm
- Tuesday, August 5, 2008 - Bret Harte High School, 6pm
- Wednesday, August 6, 2008 - Amador High School, 6pm

For young musicians, we encourage you to learn about and develop your auditioning
skills. This will be a great asset throughout your musical career.
Ask
your teachers to help you prepare for an audition. We will make the process
as easy and comfortable as possible.

Audition guidelines:
- Prepare and memorize a short 2-3 minute solo to highlight your skills.
- Know your scales. Be able to play at least 2 octaves in the major and minor keys.
- Work on sight reading (and counting!). Practice sight reading simple tunes that you've never heard before.
